Don’t Stop Believin’

Festival goers under a string of lights on a lawn

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jonathan Cain from the iconic band Journey came to Gatlinburg to give a concert on February 28, 2020, as part of the 2nd annual Tennessee Songwriters Week. He told stories about how he came up with some of his music and sang both Journey classics and Christian rock pieces he had written since his conversion.

When he was a struggling musician living in California, Cain called his dad up to ask for another loan once. Feeling discouraged, Cain told his dad he felt like quitting the dream of becoming a rock star. His dad told him, “Don’t stop believing.” A few years later, when Steve Perry asked Cain to come up with an anthem song, Cain said, “I don’t have a song, but I have a title: ‘Don’t stop believing.’”

Gatlinburg offers amazing opportunities to meet with music legends such as Jonathan Cain in an intimate setting, so put Tennessee Songwriters Week on your calendar for 2021. It is on the last week of February. Book your stay with Zoder’s Inn Gatlinburg while you’re at it.
