Happy Independence Day!
As Americans, we should all feel proud every day for the freedom and independence we have. But July 4th is especially grand. John Adams wrote to his wife about this day, "I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."
The city of Gatlinburg organizes the nation's first parade, at midnight on the 3rd. People set up their chairs in front of Gatlinburg hotels and Gatlinburg resorts sometime during that afternoon. The beautiful thing is, nobody messes with those chairs. We hope you had a wonderful celebration this week, close to your loved ones!
