May in Gatlinburg: Three Reasons
For a family-friendly Smoky Mountain experience, it’s hard to beat Gatlinburg and the surrounding area. Most folks find that there are so many events and attractions here that it’s often hard to select what to do on a family getaway, so we’re offering a few suggestions. First, immerse yourself in a spring celebration of the great outdoors during the 29th Annual Wilderness Wildlife Week from May 7-11. Head over to the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge for a week-long Smoky Mountain celebration, featuring fun educational programs for the little ones, guided hikes, and a variety of additional activities for tastes.
Next, if you’re craving good Southern barbecue with a side of bluegrass, make your way to Dollywood May 24 – June 2 for Barbecue & Bluegrass, a free concert series featuring savory barbecue and some of the hottest names on the Bluegrass circuit. Finally, don’t miss the return of Ripley’s Mermaids to the Aquarium on Memorial Day, May 27. The entire family will be thrilled by the live shows, as well as the meet and greets and photo opportunities with these enchanting creatures of the sea.
