For many folks, January in Gatlinburg means one thing – winter sports at Ober Gatlinburg. From the Slopestyle competition on January 12 to the Fourth Annual King of the Mountain contest on January 13, this is one place that rocks year-round! Don’t miss the ever-popular epic party that is Ober Rocks on January 25, a memorable event featuring skiing, tubing, boarding, DJs, live music, and live, slope-side coverage. Afterward, join us on January 27-29 for one of the most popular events in the state – the Tennessee Special Olympics Winter Games.

You’ll experience the thrilling sights and sounds of skiers schussing downhill, skates clashing on the ice, and snowboarders leaping and turning in mid-air as all of these winter sports athletes compete on Ober’s world-class slopes and skating facilities. A must-see event for winter sports enthusiasts, this year’s opening ceremony will take place at the Gatlinburg Convention Center, with training and competition over the next two days.
