‘Twas the Night Before Christmas
Where I come from, and that would be Europe, the eve of the celebrated day is actually more important than the day itself. So Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are more important than Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. That’s right. Traditionally, Christmas Eve dinners are fuller than Christmas Day lunches. They even open presents on Christmas Eve. It’s what they do over there.
Of course, every family can choose to open some presents the night before Christmas but also save some for Christmas morning. Some people celebrate with family on Christmas Eve and with friends on Christmas Day. You can do whatever you want, really, but I am just telling you what happens traditionally in those countries.
Gatlinburg could pass for a Swiss or German or Austrian mountain village. All Gatlinburg attractions have been decorated for Christmas. The economy has been doing well for the last two years and shop owners have increased their decorating budgets. It truly is magical around here. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
