Winter Fest Lights Are On

A garden full of lit up Christmas trees
Gatlinburg has kicked off the holiday season by turning on its thousands of Christmas lights. All over town, on the Parkway, East Parkway and Glades Road, the city has set up light landscapes which tell various stories. Some deal with obvious Christmas themes: nutcracker soldiers, stars, packages, Christmas trees. Other displays portray bears, a symbol of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, busy skiing, painting, throwing pottery – all activities one can do in Gatlinburg. They built this city on arts and crafts, we are proud to say around here. And bears, may I add. Hotels around Gatlinburg TN have started decorating for Christmas, but not all. Some still wait until after Thanksgiving before hanging wreaths and decorating trees. 'Tis the season, or, at least, 'tis the season to start thinking about it!
